’Tis the season for new holiday music, and Walker Hayes is ready for it with a fresh, festive spin on on of his biggest hit singles.
The country star revamped “Fancy Like,” and debuted “Fancy Like Christmas” on Friday (November 10). The dance-worthy anthem is packed with references to beloved — and some hilarious — holiday traditions and staples, including the mall Sans that scares babies, singing karaoke to Queen of Christmas Mariah Carey’s iconic holiday hit, sipping peppermint mochas, dressing the family in matching Christmas pajamas, watching Home Alone and more.
“Yeah, we fancy like Christmas round a fake tree/ Nutcracker on the mantle/ And a candy cane candle/ Getcha eggnog, witcha fruit cake/ Go Jesus, it’s your birthday/ Bougie like blowups in the front yard/ Hopin’ Santa gonna leave an Applebee's gift card/ In my stocking even though we getting naughty all night/ That’s how we do, how we do, fancy like Christmas”
Hayes, of course, posted a signature dance video with his daughter to go along with the “Fancy Like Christmas” release, saying that “as far as I’m concerned, Christmas starts at midnight [when the new holiday song released]. [Mariah Carey] we’re coming for ya!!” listen to “Fancy Like Christmas” here:
