Erie’s Roar on the Shore biker event reminds me of the time I was at the Elk Creek Inn for an ABATE awareness run. The place was packed with tattooed, leather-clad people and there was a little girl around 6 years old, seemingly alone, who struck up a conversation with me like we were old friends. That’s when her dad appeared…about 6’3”, big beard and tats everywhere. He said, “Honey, is this man bothering you?” She said, “No.” He added, “If some strange man was bothering you, what would you do?” She smiled sweetly and said, “Kick him in the balls.” I maturely said, “She started it.” He laughed and said, “I’m just messin’ with you. She’s very chatty but a good judge of character.” We all need to be better judges of character. This guy was all excited because he just finished college and was looking forward to teaching 2nd grade that fall. I’ll bet he has a well-behaved class.
